Morgan and Kataneh - The Painting

This is the first post on Friberglers - a blog about the lives of Kataneh, Morgan and baby-to-be. We are in high gear, prepping our house and lives for our baby due 2 June 2011.

I thought we'd start this blog with... the start of this blog - the creation of what you are reading now. Since this is a blog about our family, it didn't take too awful long to pick a background image that represented our family. When Kataneh and I got married on 20 Sep 2008, Brendan Monroe was one of my groomsmen. I have known Brendan since around 1994 or 1995. This is the era when TLC ruled the airwaves - Waterfalls or Creep could be heard just by turning on the radio and waiting a few minutes. Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise was released as well as All I Wanna Do by Sherryl Crow and You Don't Know How It Feels by Tom Petty.

Fast forward thirteen years to our wedding. Brendan gave us 'Morgan and Kataneh':

This was one of the most touching gifts we got for our wedding. We hang it proudly in the most prominent place of where ever we live. The coolest thing about it, is that it was painted just for us. After thanking Brendan via an email, he responded to a note he provided with the gift:

Morgan,

Cool Cool. I'm glad you guys like it.
I made that for you guys, it wasn't in any shows.
And I don't know if you caught what I meant by it, but when you get your dog, I will need the painting back to paint him or her in.
And then so on for who ever else is added to the family. Yep.

So with the seed planted in our minds that we'd give the painting back at some point to add to it as our family grew, this image is permanently the background of our blog: Friberglers
